Rancho Palos Verdes
A private, gated community in a prime peninsula location
This prestigious and private gated community is a rural pocket of the Palos Verdes Peninsula. The views from anywhere in this neighborhood are glorious, both of the Los Angeles Basin and the panoramic Pacific sights all the way up to Malibu. Rolling Hills is an idyllic home for those seeking quiet nature in an upscale neighborhood.
Rolling Hills was part of the original master plan for the Palos Verdes Peninsula. As Rancho Palos Verdes and Palos Verdes Estates were developed, a tract of land was set aside for future development. This gated community was incorporated in 1957 and has continued to fulfill its purpose as a luxurious, rural oasis.
Most homes in Rolling Hills are single-story 19th century California Ranch or Spanish Haciendas set on large plots of land. Bordered by fences and bridle paths, this residential community feels spacious and serene.

Local Lifestyle
With stunning weather and miles of trails, it’s no wonder that horse lovers flock to Rolling Hills. Beyond any of its three entrances, it’s a short drive to more populated areas full of shopping and dining, but the main draw for Rolling Hills is that it lacks any commercial districts. It is undiluted rural beauty, where residents can enjoy friendly neighbors and spacious outdoor activities.
Dining, Entertainment & Shopping
Rolling Hills is a completely residential gated community, so there are no commercial spots within its borders. However, it nestles snugly against Rolling Hills Estates, giving residents easy access to all the community has to offer.
For luxury shopping, there’s nowhere better than Promenade on the Peninsula! With boutiques, services, fitness classes, and even an ice rink, the Promenade is a great place to spend the day with friends. Each Sunday, you can also stop by the Farmers’ Market in the Peninsula Center, which boasts incredible fresh produce and local goods.
Great restaurants in the area include Chicken Maison, a family-owned and operated eatery serving modern, healthy Mediterranean fare. For Italian cuisine, Giorgio’s is the go-to spot in the South Bay, and Good Stuff truly has the best stuff when it comes to American favorites. This family-owned chain has several locations throughout Southern California, delighting patrons for years.
Things to Do
Outside the gates and beyond the horse trails, residents of Rolling Hills can find memberships and excitement at some of the most revered athletic and leisure clubs in South Bay. Kramer Club claims that “club life is a family tradition”, and for members of this prestigious club, it certainly is. This family-focused club has been around since the 1960s and has helped launch the careers of many prolific tennis pros. Both golf and tennis are enjoyed by members at Rolling Hills Country Club, as well as many social events and dining.
Minutes from the boundary of Rolling Hills is Harlyne J Norris Pavilion, a wonderful event venue that hosts student shows from the Performing Arts Conservancy, as well as many professional shows, from music to magic to comedy and Broadway tours.
